Here is the true Caribbean fantasy....
Isla Saona, in the Dominican Republic, is largely undiscovered. Experienced travel authors rave about this paradise. And it is a spot that is truly special, anybody who loves to travel should go to this paradise at least once.

Saona is part of a National Park. In 1975 the whole area south of the line between Bayahibe and Boca de Yuma had been preserved as National Park, this includes a maritime strip of 5 miles. The park is known as Parque Nacional del Este which is also known as the National Park of the East. At the moment the park was proclaimed in about 400 people populated on Saona, they are allowed to stay, but no further settlements are allowed. Everybody who goes to the island must follow rigid rules, since the massive amount tourists put an ecological strain on the environment. To emphasize the significance of Saona Island to the Dominican Republic, approximately 95% of all people who visit the park, go to Saona Island. A day trip to the island is easily the most popular excursion in Punta Cana.

You can visit Saona by joining one of the many Punta Cana adventures. It is better to contact small, owner operated companies; they offer the highest quality. The hotel agents only offer the crowded catamaran excursions, which generally end up as booze cruises. To truly enjoy Saona select a tour, offered by the smaller agencies.
